ISO: Improve Canned Frosting

On the TV program Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee, she
"doctored" up some canned frosting on one of her episodes with an ingredient that I cannot remember or find again online. It might have just been vanilla but I remember her saying that it "made it more like homemade or made it your own". Did anyone see that episode or have ideas, please?
