ISO: In search of 4 layer pineapple cake, no coconut

I'm looking for a recipe my mother had in the 60's for a pineapple cake. It involved a cake mix made into 2 round layers. Each layer was split in half and
spread with a pineapple filling. It was then frosted (perhaps with cream cheese
frosting?) It was a very moist, tasty cake and didn't have coconut. Does anyone
have any thing like this?
