ISO: Make ahead recipes for Wedding week?

My daughter is getting married in August and there are going to be many relatives around the house both during and after the wedding. Also we are hosting the Opening of the presents the next day so will need something for that so I would appreciate ANY suggestions for make ahead breakfasts, lunches etc. Someone told me we should get the caterers to give us the leftovers, is this appropriate or what? Any sites that will give me the protocol? for the Opening of the gifts party? It was just suggested to me a couple of days ago that it should be at my house. I am open to all suggestions.
