ISO: Pork Chops! Help!?!?!

Misc.
Ok, I give up. I love pork chops, but am completely at a loss on how to make them tender. Every time I try, I end up with chops that taste good, but are about like cutting through leather. I know slow-cooking in a crock pot is one way. Is there any way to marinate them to acheive tenderness? I've tried beating the heck out of them with a meat mallet with only marginal results.

BTW: This site is great. I just moved into a "luxury" apartment with a great kitchen, so I'm really getting back into cooking. For now it's just for one though, so this site has really given me some great ideas!

Thank you in advance for any help!
