ISO: Sour Cream and Buttermilk

Misc.
Just curious, for making Sour Cream and Buttermilk, can I use instant non-fat dry milk? I have so much of that on hand from going to the food pantry that I would really like to use it up and have been looking for a cheaper way to get sour cream or buttermilk when I need it. Thanks in advance!
