ISO: Venetian Potatoes at Beaches

I was at a Beaches resort in Jamaica and had the best potatoes. They called them venetian potatoes and they were similar to maybe scalloped potatoes. I haven't been able to find a recipe so I was thinking they just made up the name, but I thought I'd check if someone else has heard of them.
