Thank You: Carolyn, for your very sweet wishes. And, congratulations to your son!!!

Misc.
Wow! Congratulations to your son, and to you and Louis, Carolyn! That is such a big milestone for him and for you. I know what you mean about getting everyone's wardrobe under control. That, in itself, is a bit stressful and definitely time consuming.

I have simply retired from my teaching position - really for practical purposes. DH and I looked at what my retirement would be, having taught, part time for 21 years. Then we looked at my social security situation. I am very close to having enough quarters to be eligible for that which would be better than what I would get from my teacher retirement so I made the decision to retire from teaching. I will be working again in the fall, but doing something different than teaching, something that pays into social security. What that will be, I'm not sure. So I guess you would say that I am semi-retired??!? I will miss teaching, especially the children.

We are very proud of our oldest daughter. She is starting her residency in emergency medicine at The University of AZ in Tucson. She and, her now fiancee (yes, that has just happened as well as everything else) will be leaving here in about a week. I will miss her/them a ton!!

We are also very proud of our baby. She will be starting work on a PhD at Johns Hopkins University in late Aug. so we will be helping her find an apartment, as well as helping her to move from Washington, DC to Baltimore. (You can see why I am waiting until fall to start a new job. Our summer is already very full!)

I hope you get to try the Guacamole Salad. It is good. If you find it a little too tart, just add a tiny amount of sugar and 1 1/2 Tbsp of orange juice. That's what I did the second time I made it since DH thought the dressing was a tad tart.

You have a wonderful summer, too, Carolyn. Don't be a stranger at recipelink.
