Misc.
For our Christmas dinner, I will definitely make the spinach gratin,your salad and, probably, Rachel Ray's smashed potatoes. I'm not sure yet whether or not I'll make Emeril's roasted baby root vegetables. I will also make Yorkshire pudding, horseradish sauce, and gravy. I need to get busy making my brown sauce to help make my gravy. Otherwise, I have found that gravy made from rib roast drippings lacks a lot in the flavor department. For dessert, I will probably make Holiday Egg Nog Pie from my cookbook, Sinfully Delicious by Rose Naftalin, who owned a restaurant in Portland, that we used to frequent when we lived in Oregon. I haven't figured out appetizers yet but it may just be a simple shrimp cocktail.
