Gina. You are most welcome.
Misc. Let me tell you that you are in for a treat with the Yorkshire Pudding - so tasty:-)! They are really very similar to popovers. The only difference is that you use butter for popovers rather than beef drippings. Make sure that you have your drippings hot whether you make individual puddings or one large one. I think that is what makes the puddings "pop."
As for the Eggnog Pie, you can see that it is very rich, but, in my humble opinion, worth it once a year:-)! I am, in fact, a bit worried about the fact that my dinner has so many rich dishes:-( Your salad is the only thing, besides sparkling wine, and coffee with the pie, that will give our taste buds a break. Maybe I'll eliminate the gravy this year??!? I didn't used to make it but for some reason started making it. I also usually serve canned spiced peaches with this meal. I can't get them here so I bring them back from DC when we go down there to visit.
It snowed here on Thanksgiving Day. It was really pretty, as the first snowfall always is. We had a fire so it made me think of you:-) We had a light snow on Sunday - only about 2 inches. We were supposed to get some today but the front which dumped about 7 inches on Virginia was too far out to sea to cause us any problems. I think that The Cape (Cape Cod) got about 5 inches though. Gina...you are more than welcome to come help me shovel anytime. If I didn't have to shovel or drive anywhere, I'd enjoy this weather a whole lot more! I can completely understand the reason your DH thinks you're crazy. He, like I, grew up dealing with it. To be honest, I know that I miss it. When we lived in Oregon, I would make DH drive me up to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood so I could see snow:-) It was quite a production, though. Since one doesn't usually need snow tires in the Willamette valley, we would, like everyone, have to stop part way up and put chains on our tires. At that time (early 70's), we owned a little Fiat Sports coupe and had quite a time finding chains that would fit the tires.
Now, after all of my babbling, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Have fun cooking:-)!
