Hello Micha! The Hotel el Convento

Misc.
had been recently restored. It is in front of Old San Juan's Cathedral and is poetic to say the least. I am sure everybody had been to, for example, Albuquerque's Old Town, or New Orleans French Quarter. Old San Juan is similar, absolutely gorgeous, with old cobblestone streets, white buildings, iron balconies street vendors, small and big churches and specially people endowed with the placid jovial character of Caribbean natives. El Convento used to be a nunnery, and later the nuns were moved a few streets away with the Archbishop (who lives in OLd San Juan). The El Convento has a street Caf full of action and people drinking Pi as Coladas, fruit sherbets and local beers. There is the Caf del Nispero (a caf inside with a Nispero tree in the middle) where you can drink your favorite beverage and eat all kinds of Tapas. Also, inside the hotel, there is a gourmet restaurant where I had never been because I rather prefer restaurants at Roosevelt Avenue, not far from my home. But Old San Juan is a gourmet heaven and the restaurant at the Convento had been highly recommended.

Well Micha it is a pleasure to hear from you and also to know that there are many good friends at the Recipe Link that had already visited my wonderful island.

your friend,

Gladys/PR
