haven't bought any in awhile -- but if I find a deal I'll stock up (thank goodness for freezers!).

I buy buttermilk about once or twice a month (quart) - mainly we use it in those 'ever-ready' bran biscuits - where you can keep the dough up to 40 days in the refrigerator. And I use it in a lot of baked good and sometimes for marinating chicken. The last 2 or 3 times, I had to go to 2 or 3 different supermarkets. Something about a shortage of butter-fats. So this must be similar to your comments, Debbie.
