Butter, here, is about $3.50-3.75. I stocked up when it hit $3. For $4/#, not only can it sit there but, I can wait for it to get back to $3/#. I think the problem is not only a high demand for butter fat for ice cream but, also with the droughts around the country, the cows haven't had enough grass/grain to eat and the cost of feed grain has similarly sky-rocketed. Many cows have been sent to the slaughter because farmers couldn't afford to feed them. *Maybe* I'd pay that price, if I thought it was helping to offset farmers' losses but, they're losing more money by the day. I maintain, however, that while the farmers are being squeezed dry, the middlemen aren't taking much in the way of losses and it all gets passed on to you, the consumer.
