Kids in the Kitchen

Misc.
Next month each of four grandchildren, ages 7-12, will be spending a week with us. (A different week for each.) I want them to get accustomed to the kitchen, especially for the ones whose mother absolutely hates to cook, and usually doesn't. (Often their meal is pre-cut raw veggies with a dip. The 9-yr-old just learned from her auntie what a can opener is, and is not allowed to use even a toaster without supervision.) "Ants on a Log" gets boring, and making faces or critters from canned fruit is play without feeling accomplishment. I've planned nuked hot dogs with cheese down the middle, variations of grilled cheese, and scrambled eggs. Does anyone have any recipes suitable for kids to learn to cook?
Also, can you recommend a kids' cookbook with "real" cooking? I want to give them their own, with a nutrition/food groups chart. Their auntie and I want to make this a nutritionally educational as well as enjoyable experience for them.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
