Need Help------Fondue Pot

I think I made a mistake today, I purchased a Fondue Pot as a gift. The problem as I see it is that it isn't electric, which I think means your limited to cheese dishes or chocolate dip. I'm not thinking straight these days, I'm truly shopping frazzled !! Can anyone tell me about these pots, and please don't worry about my feelings, I have the receipt. This gift would be for a twenty--something young girl. I have never owned one of these, so I know nothing, any help would be so very much appreciated. Thank you.
