Patty/Anise toast

The same thing has happened to me by using too powerful a mixing tool. I did that with egg whites once, thinking they'd fluff up real quick. Instead, I ended up with foamy liquid which wouldn't fluff and I had to throw away 6 egg whites! Glad your doggies liked your cookies!
I'm listening to freezing rain outside right now. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr up here in Jersey.
