Sybil/Hoboken,NJ re Anise Cookies

Misc.

Hi again Sybil, I see you are going to make Anise Toast. The other night I made Anise Cookies. What a disaster! First of all I decided for the first time, rather than mixing by hand, I used my Kitchen Aid Professional Mixer (which I love). I used this to mix and to knead batter. Mistake! The batter came out toooo soft and would not for any thing, even after my husband kept adding a little extra flour at a time, thicken and form correctly. We ended up dropping batter by spoonful on cookie sheet. Also we could only find here Anise Extract (no oil available). We ended up using the whole bottle of extract, still no flavor in cookie! Because we added additional flour, we were chocking when we tried to eat them. The dogs did like them!! This is one recipe that has to be made exactly as written! Let me know how yours come out. I do prefer the toast, and of course have to dunk! Talk to you later.
