re: apple butter thickness

Yes, Christine, it is quite thick --- or at least the jarred kind is --- I would 'guess' a little thinner than most preserves - a little thicker than mayonnaise.

I haven't had apple sauce in a long time .... but I seem to remember it being thinner.
