re: Labor Day
Misc.Labor Day was started in 1882 in New York City as a means of honoring the working people. The first day was held on Tues, but in 1883 it was moved to the first Monday in Sept. and other industrial regions of the U. S. picked up on the iddea. It was made national holiday in 1885 or 86.
