soft vs thin cookies

Misc.

I believe cookies made with vegetable shortening will be softer and puffier than the same recipe made with butter, all other things being the same. Someone just told me last week she always uses shortening instead of butter in drop cookies because she doesn't like them to spread out and get thin. I use butter. Has anyone who uses shortening noticed this?
