Sweet Onions

Misc.

Enjoyed reading all the comments re the Vidalia and other sweet onions - and the recipes. Sound great. We love Vidalia - and the other similar onions.
Yesterday, here in food links - under 'nibbles' - and then down to 'weekly updates' (newspapers, etc.) - under the Fort Worth Star Telegram - I found lots of good stuff on these onions! You might want to click over and check it out. There was an article: SWEET SUCCESS: SHRED NOT A TEAR FOR THE 1015 ONION, TEXAS VERSION OF THE VENERABLE VIDALIA. Gave lots of tips -as to what to use them for - and what not too! I did goof once a year or 2 ago and sauted them until they became soupy! Didn't know any better! The article also has about 7 recipes - and some sound great - ScallopedSweet Onions; Chile Crumb Stuffed Onions, Sweet Onion Pie,Sweet Onion Salad Dressing, Sweet Onion Ring Loaf, etc. There is another short article in same section that lists the various sweet onions and their seasons. If you're interested, it is a good thing to check out - I've been cooking with these for some time - and I learned several things. So, Sue in CA should be able to find a great sweet one!
