Welcome, Joansy!

Misc.
More fun being a participant than a lurker, so welcome! Jeanne - it's 89 here in Ft. Myers, however, the dewpoint is only 50 and the breeze is really kicking up so it's not too bad.

Joansy - I'd sure love to try that sausage potato lasagna, but DH is a few weeks post-bypass - so those wonderful dishes are no longer in our diets. And I'm 3 days post-op from parathyroid/thyroid surgery up in Tampa. More extensive than they thought, but doing well here at home today. Yesterday, between DH and me creaking and groaning around the house, I felt like characters out of "Night of the Living Dead!"

But as long as we can keep our sense of humor and we have friends and family like everyone here, we'll be fine.

The one thing I miss about moving to Florida, is the forsythia blooming, the lilacs coming and maple sap running out of our big maple trees up in Massachusetts. DH and I went through several years of making our own syrup outside with roaring fires and bubbling sap - such a wonderful steamy smell with the melting snow all around us - we'd bring old chairs outside, sit near the fire, feeding the pine logs to it, and as we'd finally get to the last stage and poured it off the evaporator, we'd use the rest of the embers to do hot dogs and marshmallows.

We both had more energy back in those days.

I really miss the lilacs - they were my favorite smelling flowers and signaled spring and upcoming summer more than anything. DH would walk through the back door with a big armload of them for me that he would have picked along the roadside on the way home from work.

Keep posting, Joansy - you sound like fun!
