Yes, too many sweets at Christmas

It's true that many folks get too many sweets that just go stale before they can be eaten. If your social circle is that way, try making gifts that can wait til February or even July to be consumed. This site has lots of jar mixes; spiced tea or mocha would go well with the other goodies under the tree. Canned goods like pickles or jam would also keep well and still be festive.

A tradition at my spouse's workplace is Goodie Fest. Instead of gorging themselves on a single day, the "party" is spread out over the entire month. They sign up on a calendar to make sure that there are treats in the office every day. Nothing is wasted, and everyone is happy...except for the poor souls who call in sick!
