Recipe(tried): Laurier BBQ Sauce

Toppings - Sauces and Gravies
As a native of Montreal and a very frequent customer of Laurier during the first 25 years of my life, I too was eager to find a way to make this delicious chicken at home, especially now that I live in the States. On a visit to Montreal 23 years ago, my husband and I actually brought a friend who was something of a gourmet (and gourmand!)to try to pinpoint the ingredients in the sauce. He was quick to identify allspice and coriander as key features in the wonderful sauce. Voil !

Now I just stop by the supermarket, pick up a chicken or two, some frozen fries and 2 cans or jars of ready-made chicken gravy (I know-it's not from scratch but still), such as Franco-American or Swanson. I heat up the sauce on the stovetop while the fries are cooking and I add allspice, coriander, parsley and freshly ground pepper. It's yummy and makes me miss Montreal. Now if I could just figure out how to make that wonderful chocolate pie, though I find that it used to taste better years ago. My friend said the brand of chocolate was the secret, but he was unable to narrow it down beyond that point.
