Recipe: Crispy French Toast (using corn flakes)

Breakfast and Brunch
CRISPY FRENCH TOAST

"The cornflakes give this fabulous French toast extra crunch."

1 cup milk
4 eggs, beaten
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
6 (1-inch) slices sourdough or French bread
Corn flakes, crushed
Melted butter (for cooking)
Butter, ground cinnamon, and maple syrup (for serving)

Combine milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and nutmeg.
Dip bread slices in milk mixture and roll in crushed cornflakes.

Put in buttered skillet over low heat and brown 5 minutes on each side.

To serve, butter and sprinkle toast with cinnamon and top with maple syrup.

Makes 2-4 servings
