Recipe: Aftershave
Misc.Sorry, I have never made the aftershave recipe that I posted. I would think it would have a very strong alcohol odor when first applied, but this odor may go away as the alcohol evaporates off the face. You could probably substitute witch hazel for the vodka - it doesn't hurt to experiment since none of the ingredients cost very much. I have another recipe here, but it has not been tested either:
Old West Aftershave
1/2 c witch hazel
2 t apple cider vinegar
1 t dried sage leaves
1/8 t dried basil
1/4 t whole allspice
Mix together and put in a mason jar. Shake every now and then for 2 weeks and store in a dark place. At the end of 2 weeks, strain through a funnel liined with a coffee filter or paper towel.
Here is another recipe for the Bay Rum aftershave that somebody gave me:
Bay Rum Aftershave
5 oz vodka
1 oz Jamaican Rum
a couple of bay leaves
1/4 t allspice
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 t orange extract
Follow the same procedure as above.
I thought these aftershave recipes sounded so interesting, but have never actually made them. I never seem to think of having the ingredients on hand.
