AMERICAN STRUDEL
FOR THE DOUGH:
1/2 lb. margarine or butter, room temperature
1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream (1 cup)
2 cups all-purpose flour
FOR THE FILLING:
1 cup apricot-pineapple jam
1 cup golden seedless raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
Powdered sugar (for garnish)
Cream together margarine and sour cream. Mix in flour to make a soft dough; separate into 4 balls of equal size aid wrap in transparent film or waxed paper. Refrigerate an hour or so.
WHEN READY TO BAKE:
Mix together jam, raisins and walnuts for the filling.
Roll each ball of pastry into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick, working with one at a time. Roll up jelly roll-fashion and lay on ungreased baking sheet.
When all are rolled, bake in preheated 350 degree F oven about 40 minutes. Rolls are done when sides are crisp to touch even though they may appear unbaked.
Sprinkle each roll with powdered sugar and slice to serve.
Makes 15 to 20 servings
