This is a wonderful low-fat barbeque sauce. I've used this recipe for years. It's great for chicken on the grill as well as to make oven-baked chicken more flavorful.
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt, (optional)
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup lemon juice, about 1 lemon
1 medium onion, halved lengthwise and sliced thin crosswise, about 2/3 cup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients except the ketchup. Bring the mixture to a boil, and cook it over moderately low heat for 20 minutes. The sauce should be thick.
Stir in the ketchup and remove the sauce from the heat.
