Recipe: Black and White Chunk Cookies

BLACK AND WHITE CHUNK COOKIES

3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup butter flavored shortening
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
4 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
4 oz white chocolate, chopped
1 cup walnuts or pecans (optional)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In large bowl, combine sugars, butter and shortening; beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg; blend well. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well.

Stir in chocolates and nuts. Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.

Makes 3 dozen cookies
