Recipe: Blue Cheese Potatoes Au Gratin

Blue Cheese Potatoes Au Gratin

This is a recipe my daughter gave me. I'm not sure where it's from, but it's really yummy. I have substituted sharp cheddar for the blue cheese and both versions are really good.
Serves 6

4 large potatoes (2 1/2 lbs) peeled and sliced 1/4" thick
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup milk
2 Tbsp. garlic, finely chopped
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
6 oz. blue cheese
2 slices white bread, coarsely crumbled

Combine potatoes, cream, milk, garlic, spices and 1/2 cheese. Simmer 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Put in an 8-inch square buttered baking dish and top with cheese and bread crumbs. Bake at 350F 35-40 minutes until potatoes are fork tender and top is browned.
