Recipe: Broccoli with Spicy Sesame Oil

Broccoli with Spicy Sesame Oil

I clipped this recipe from my local paper; it was reported to be right out of a local restaurant's recipe files. I've tried it, and it comes very close to the Chinese take-out version. (As a bonus, it's very simple to make!)

1 bunch broccoli
1 1/2 tbsp. sesame oil
1 small (I prefer several large!) garlic clove, minced
1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper
2 tsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. lemon juice

Bring large pan of salted water to a boil. Cut broccoli into florets. Peel tough outer layer from stalks; trim off woody ends. Cut stalks diagonally into 1/4-inch slices. Add broccoli to water and blanch for 1 minute. Drain.

In a large skillet, warm sesame oil, garlic and red pepper over low heat for three minutes. Stir in soy and lemon juice. Add broccoli, toss and coat.
