Recipe: Blueberry Buttermilk Bread

Blueberry Buttermilk Bread

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
3 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 cup fresh or thawed frozen blueberries

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg in medium bowl.

Beat butter and sugar in large mixer bowl until well blended. Beat in egg. Beat in flour mixture alternately with buttermilk. Batter will be stiff. Stir in blueberries. Turn batter into greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pan.

Bake in preheated 350 degrees oven until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 50 to 60 minutes. Cool on wire rack 15 minutes. Remove from pan; cool completely on rack.
