Recipe(tried): Buenelos - Yes, it is the correct term for this dish.

Desserts - Pastries
I have made buenelos before so I know that this dessert dish tastes good. I am of spanish and mexican heritage so I know the recipe well. It's been awhile since I made them but I can do it again, once I find all the ingredients I need.

Technically it's not tortillas that you're making because tortillas are of either flour or corn and contain a bit more salt in the recipe as well. Also, flour ones aren't deep fried, corn ones are as you well know.

Corn tortillas are either square and flat shaped or round and flat when they are fried or they can be rolled up as if they are filled with meat like beef or chicken. I just wanted to explain the differences in tortillas' and Beunelos'.

Another word for Buenelos can be looked up as Sopapillas if you want to try making them?

I hope this answers your question.
