Recipe: Candy Bar Cake Directions

Desserts - Candy, Chocolate
I think this will give you a general idea. Its the only directions I found.

Candy Bar Cake:

8 7/8x1 3/16-inch White Styrofoam Base (got mine at Joanne's it is precut)
28 Hershey's Miniatures - Milk Chocolate Bars on the outside
28 Hershey's Miniatures - Dark Chocolate Bars for first row top
15 Hershey's Miniatures - Whichever flavor desired
4-5 Hershey's Miniatures - Whichever flavor desired
44 Hard Strawberry Candies (from the PA Dutch Market)
12 Chocolate Covered Cherries

1 piece of cardboard for a base and covered with aluminum foil.(You can find the precut bakery style at any craft or Wal Mart Store.

Use a low temp hot glue gun(an inexpensive one will do the trick)

Make sure your wrapper all line up in the same direction, the name of the candy going in the same direction makes for a more even and professional look.

Making an "L" shape on the back from center of bar and across the bottom. Then attaching to the Styrofoam. You do not have to push very tight together. Leave a little breathing room and it will all pan out in the end.

Upon doing the outside, I then started the outside top row. A secret is to lay one bar down (do not glue). Then take the bar you are going to glue (again make sure the same side is up all the way around) and put glut across bottom edge. Place slightly leaning upon the flat bar. Line up with bar on outside edge also. When you get to the end, lift up the flat bar and put glue along bottom edge and put in place.

Repeat with second row, same way, except you won't be able to line up with first row. Just place them however they will fit around. You might have a few larger gaps, but don't worry the hard candies will fill it in.

I then filled the center with desired bars. Some were flat and some were slightly tilted.

Then I glued the cherries around the center bars and piled the rest on top, gluing to hold.

Then I took the hard candies and glued to base in between each outside candy bar.

I took more hard candies and placed between first and second rows of bars on the top.

You can put the hard candies as close together as you desire or wherever you wish. I was not able to find the solid red raspberry hard candies (if you see them in the summer, grab them as they are nowhere to be found in the winter the strawberry were hard to find too), so since the strawberry ones had green on them, I gave it a more "wreathy" look.
