Recipe(tried): caramel walnut upside down pie

Misc.

Betty, You can easily make this with your favorite recipe for apple pie. Before you put the pie in the dish, spread 1/4 cup softened butter on the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of walnuts or pecans over the butter. Press 1/2 cup brown sugar over the butter and nuts. Place your pie in dish in the normal fashion. I think it is best to use a deep dish pan. Place on cookie sheet and cook as you would any pie. When the pie is done, let set 5min to cool slightly and turn over onto serving plate. I use a larger plate than you would think because the carmel may run. If it cools too long, the carmel will set up and be difficult to remove.
