Recipe(tried): Celebratory Dinner - Fisherman Spaghetti, Cheesy Garlic Toast, Scandinavian Almond Cake

Menus
My Hubby and I are celebrating the birth of our new Grandson, so for dinner tonight we will be having our family's traditional celebratory meal. We have this meal for birthdays and Christmas Eve. It is Fisherman Spaghetti, Cheesy garlic toast, crisp green salad and Scandinavian Almond Cake for dessert.

Fisherman Spaghetti

1 lb. vermicelli
1/2 lb. butter (no substitutes)
6 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 lb. fresh shrimp, cleaned and deveined
1 lb. crab meat
Fresh parmesan cheese, grated
*Cook vermicelli. Drain and keep warm. Melt butter, add garlic and saute. Add shrimp and cook till pink. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook tll just heated through. Toss with vermicelli and sprinkle with grated parmesan. (I have substituted lobster for the crab with excellent results)

Cheesy Garlic Toast

1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup oil
2 Tbsp. Garlic juice (found in the spice section by the vanilla and bottled flavorings)
1/2 cup minced onion
2 cups mozarella, shredded

* Heat butter, oil, garlic juice and onion just till butter is melted. Remove from stove and cool. Add cheese. Split a loaf od french bread lengthwise and spoon cheese mixture over evenly. Bake on a cookie sheet for 20-30 minutes @ 350 degrees until cheese is lightly brown and bubbly.

Scandinavian Almond Cake

1-1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 tsp. almond extract
2/3 cup milk
1-1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 stick butter,melted (no substitutes)
sliced almonds and powdered sugar for garnish

*Spray special pan generously with Pam. Beat the sugar, egg, extract and milk together. Beat in flour and baking powder. Add the melted butter and mix well. Sprinkle the sliced almonds into the bottom of the pan and pour in batter. Bake @ 350 degrees 40-50 minutes. Edges must be golden brown. Cool in pan. Remove from pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar. (Te special pan,a 4-1/2 inch by 12 inch loaf pan with ridges in it. I think a person could substitute a loaf pan and adjust the baking time accordingly.)
