Recipe(tried): Chicken Cream Cheese Won Tons and Homemade Won Ton Wrappers

Appetizers and Snacks
Thanks! I will take those bad wrappers right back to the store!

I went ahead and made my own wrappers, it was pretty easy, i thought. i found another recipe doing a random search online. simply

1 cup flour
1 large egg (i had to add a little more egg)
2 tbsp water

this will be very sticky so use lots of flour to roll it out. I roll it between two pieces of plastic wrap (i still needed flour!) (it helps to 'stick' the plastic wrap to the counter by wetting the counter before you put it down too). and that really contains the mess! once it is rolled out, i recommend sitting it in the refrigerator while you make the filling. if it gets soft it is harder to handle and cut, and leaving it out will make it just plain hard! cut them just before adding the filling.
Makes 15 wrappers

The filling i made contained:

1/4 lb ground chicken (comes in 1lb pkg)
2 stalks green onion finely chopped
8 pieces fresh or can bamboo shoots (chopped)
1/2 tsp fresh ground ginger (produce section)
-or- use powdered ginger found in seasoning aisle
1/2tsp seasoning salt
1/2tsp garlic powder or chopped garlic (produce section)
2 tbsp cream cheese

i used an electric chopper to chop the bamboo and green onion. Mixed them with the ground chicken and added seasonings and ginger. Then i made one won ton by wrapping the mixture up in a wrapper and boiling it in enough water to cover it. I put a chicken boullion cube and some chopped onion and garlic in the water... as if i were making a soup but i didn't intend to eat the liquid. I thought it needed something else, so i added the cream cheese to the chicken mix and made the rest.
It probably sounds pretty complicated, but it really wasn't. I really enjoyed making and eating them!
The best thing is you can be creative! put whatever you like in them! boil them or fry them!
ENJOY!
