Recipe: Clouds at Sunrise (Thank You Cherry Pie Filling label)

CLOUDS AT SUNRISE

6 egg whites
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 cups sugar
2 cups (about 45) crushed soda (saltine) crackers
3/4 cup chopped nuts
2 tsp. vanilla
FOR THE TOPPING:
2 cups heavy (whipping) cream
1 (21 oz.) can Thank You Cherry Pie Filling

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Beat egg whites until frothy, add cream of tartar, then gradually add sugar. Beat until stiff. Fold in crushed crackers, nuts and vanilla. Spread in a well buttered 13x9-inch glass baking dish.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes. Cool on rack.

Whip cream, spread over top and spoon pie filling over cream. Chill several hours or overnight before serving.

Makes 12-15 servings
