Jiffy Chocolate Feather Cake

1 egg
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sour milk
1 tsp. soda
1/2 cup hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Do not beat or mix any of ingredients until all are together. Break egg into mixing bowl, then add other ingredients in order given. Beat mixture until well blended. Pour into greased cake pan or bake as cupcakes. Bake in 350 degree oven about 30 minutes. Dissolve soda in hot water.

Chocolate Cake (with coffee)

1 3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup hot coffee
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/2 cup boiling water

Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Combine cocoa and hot coffee. Stir to dissolve, then add to first mixture. Add vanilla. Then add flour and salt. Dissolve soda in boiling water and add. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.

Eileen’s Chocolate Cake

3 level tbsp. cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cold water
2 cup flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. soda in 2 tbsp. hot water

FROSTING:
3 tbsp. milk
3 tbsp. margarine
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup chocolate chips

Cook cocoa in milk and let cool. Add butter, sugar, cold water, flour and beat. Then beat in 3 whole eggs, one at a time. Dissolve soda in hot water and beat in. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Cool.

Frosting: Mix milk, margarine and sugar, boil for 30 seconds. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips. Frost cooled cake.

Chocolate Cake

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream margarine and sugar. Add beaten eggs and beat well. Sift flour with baking powder, cocoa and salt. Add alternately with milk. Dissolve soda in a little warm water, add to mix. Add vanilla, beat well.

Favorite Chocolate Cake

2 cups granulated sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
5 tbsp. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 cup salad oil
1 cup buttermilk or milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. soda
1 cup hot water

Sift together sugar, flour, baking powder, cocoa and salt. Dissolve soda in hot water and add remaining ingredients. Beat 2 minutes. Batter will be thin. Makes a large cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
