Recipe: Cocoa Doughnut Balls

Breakfast and Brunch
COCOA DOUGHNUT BALLS

2 eggs, well beaten
2/3 cup sugar
2 tbsp melted butter or margarine
1 cup milk
1 tsp almond extract
3 1/4 cups sifted flour
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
fat for deep frying
confectioner's sugar (for topping)

Combine eggs, sugar, butter, milk and almond extract; mix to blend.

Sift together dry ingredients; slowly add to first mixture. Beat until smooth.

Heat fat to 370 degrees F (browns one bread cube in 1 minute).

Dip balls of dough with spoon; slide into hot fat. Turn frequently to brown on all sides.

Drain on paper toweling. Roll in confectioners sugar.

Makes 3 to 4 dozen
