Recipe: Corn, Lima, Potato, Sausage Soup Idea

CORN LIMA, POTATO, SAUSAGE, ETC. SOUP IDEA

onion
sliced garlic
celery
sweet red pepper
jalapeno, to taste
boiling potatoes
corn
limas
chicken stock
bay leaves...remove before pureeing!
3-4 dashes of clove
thyme
basil
rosemary?..or oregano?..or summer savory/
parsley
chicken stock
a few dashes of soy sauce, if you like

when ready, puree lightly so that it is still chunky

add buttermilk
sauteed chunks of smoked turkey sausage
1-bulb roasted garlic, squeezed in
and more liquid smoke, if desired

serve by grating into the hot soup either some fontina or Swiss cheese

A carrot and olive paste on toasted bread might go nicely...or a cold carrot, olive and cucumber salad with a simple olive oil and lemon juice dressing. Perhaps instead of putting the cheese in the soup, you may like to add it to the bruschetta or salad...in which case it might also be mozzarella as the choice of cheese.
