Recipe(tried): Coronation Chicken (and question re: cream)

The Coronation Chicken posted by Chas from Melbourne was a hit over the festive season in my house. I've been asked to make it twice since then! Question - can I use a synthetic cream instead of the fresh cream as I need to make it well in advance for an occassion?
