Recipe: Cottage Pudding with Chocolate Sauce and Baked Chocolate Pudding Cake

1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
2/3 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add the soft margarine and about half of the milk. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed.
Add the remaining milk, unbeaten eggs and vanilla. Beat another 2 minutes. Pour the batter into a greased 8x8x2-inch pan or a 7x11x1 1/2-inch pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cut in squares and serve with Chocolate Sauce.
CHOCOLATE SAUCE:
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
2 cups milk
2/3 cup sugar
2 1/2 tbsp. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Heat chocolate and milk in double boiler. Combine sugar, flour and salt. Add gradually to chocolate mixture. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Cook five minutes longer, stirring occasionally. Add butter and vanilla. Serve on Cottage Pudding or other dessert. Makes 2 1/2 cups
BAKED CHOCOLATE PUDDING CAKE
During baking this separates into cake on top of chocolate pudding sauce.
1 square unsweetened chocolate (melted)
2 tbsp. melted margarine
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup enriched flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Topping:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
Combine chocolate, margarine, sugar, salt and vanilla in saucepan in which chocolate was melted. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Stir in walnuts. Pour into 8 inch round greased pan.
Top with topping ingredients that have been mixed together. Pour1 cup water on top.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.
Serve while warm with whipped cream or plain.

The only St. Peter's Pudding recipe that I found was made with dried fruits and not at all like the one you described. Here are a couple of recipes that fit your description - hopefully one will be close.
