Recipe: Cream Cheese Dip with Garlic and Onion
Appetizers and Snacks Hi Melondy,
I visited the Dolly's Pizza site to get a clue to what might be in the dip you're looking for and here's what their description:
"A delicious cream cheese and sour cream base with a hint of garlic and onion. Great for dipping breadsticks and pizza crust!"
So, here's a dip recipe that I found that I hope will come close to the original!
Cream Cheese Dip with Garlic and Onion
rec.food.cooking/Marc McNeer (2001)
This is my favorite.
2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese very soft - use the microwave if you have too
16 oz sour cream
milk to thin cream cheese
minced onions at least 1/2 to 3/4 of a small onion
1 tsp. garlic powder - to taste
1 tsp. salt
Heat the cream cheese in the microwave for at least 1 minute. The cream cheese needs to be soft enough that when you stir it you don't get any lumps. Then add just enough milk to get the cream cheese to the same consistency as the sour cream - chip dip consistency. Add the sour cream.
Now the rest is up to your personal taste. Add the onion, garlic powder and salt and then doctor it till you get it the way you want it.
I've tried bacon it it also.
Happy Cooking!
