Recipe: Danish Almond Bars
Misc. Danish Almond Bars

Makes 24 bars
1 roll Odense Almond Paste, broken into small pieces
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, at room temperature, broken into small pieces
6 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup almond slices
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F. Grease and flour a 10 x 15 cookie sheet pan.
In a large bowl using an electric mixer, beat the Almond Paste and sugar until well mixed. Mixture will be crumbly.
Add butter. Beat until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, until well mixed.
Beat in milk, vanilla extract and almond extract.
In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Add chocolate chips and almond slices.
Add flour mixture to almond paste mixture. Beat until well mixed.
Spoon batter into baking sheet, spreading evenly.
Bake 25 - 30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool before cutting.
