Recipe: Depression Era Oatmeal Cookies (using bacon grease)

DEPRESSION ERA OATMEAL COOKIES

1 cup raisins, boiled and cooled (save juice)
1 cup sugar
1 cup bacon grease
2 eggs
5 tbsp. raisin juice
2 cups flour
2 cups oatmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. ground cloves

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix together sugar, bacon grease, eggs, and raisin juice.

Stir together flour, oatmeal, baking soda, and cloves. Stir into creamed mixture. Stir in the cooled and drained raisins. Drop by teaspoonful on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees F until light brown.
