Recipe(tried): Double Chocolate Crinkles
Misc. Hi Susan,
This is my second-favorite cookie recipe (after my mom's secret-recipe butter cookies). I can't find mint chocolate chips any more; I think Nestle has discontinued them.
Double Chocolate Crinkles
6-8 dozen
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 ounces (1 package) chocolate chips
confectioners’ sugar
1- Mix together first three ingredients.
2- Melt shortening and chocolate together.
3- Beat in sugar.
4- Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
5- Mix in flour mixture until smooth.
6- Stir in chocolate chips.
7- Chill dough 1 hour or longer.
8- Break off bits of dough and roll into 1” balls.
9- Roll in confectioners’ sugar.
10- Arrange 1” apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
11- Bake 10 minutes at 350 .
12- Let cool on wire racks. Cookies will be soft, but will firm up somewhat upon cooling.
Variation: Mint Chocolate Crinkles – Substitute mint extract for vanilla. Use mint chocolate chips.
