Recipe: Easy Baked Pasta Carbonara (using ham or bacon, cheese and peas)

2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup diced ham or bacon
2 cups milk
1 tablespoon Argo or Kingsford's Corn Starch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch ground nutmeg
1/4 to 1/2 cup frozen peas
2/3 cup Parmesan cheese, divided use
1/2 cup buttery cracker crumbs (like Ritz)
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
8 ounces penne pasta (or other tubular pasta), cooked and drained
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
# Melt 2 tablespoons butter in large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add ham or bacon; cook, stirring, 1 to 2 minutes.
# Stir in milk, corn starch, salt, pepper and nutmeg; add peas. Bring to boil, stirring constantly; boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese.
# Toss with cooked pasta. Pour into greased casserole dish. Top with remaining cheese. Stir cracker crumbs together with melted butter. Sprinkle crumb mixture over pasta.
Bake 25 minutes or until golden.
Makes 4 servings
