Recipe: Easy Barbecue Sauce (using catsup)

EASY BARBECUE SAUCE

1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
1/2 cup catsup
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. brown sugar or molasses
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce

Cook onion and garlic in butter until tender.

Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.

Brush on steaks, roasts, spareribs, chicken or frankfurters during cooking. Serve extra sauce with the meat. (If brush that touched the raw meat has been in the sauce, boil the remaining sauce a few minutes before serving with the cooked meat.)

Makes about 1 1/4 cups
