Recipe(tried): Easy Calzones (bread machine)

Breads - Bread Machine
Hi Friends,
I had always wanted to make calzones, but had yet to try to make them until today. I couldn't believe how easy they were to make and my family gave rave reviews. The dough is very simple and I made mine in the bread machine using the pizza dough cycle or dough cycle.

1 1/2 cups warm water
2 Tablespoons Oil
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
4 cups bread flour
4 teaspoons yeast

Place all of the above ingredients in bread machine pan. Press dough cycle. When done you can separate into either 4 equal pieces or whatever size you'd like. These make 4 pretty good sized calzones. Preheat oven to 375F. Next take one of the dough balls and roll out on a floured surface (I used wax paper) into a circle. You'll need to flour the top of the dough so it won't stick! Now you can use any filling you desire. I used pepperoni, seasoned cooked ground beef, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. You can really get creative and use whatever fillings you'd like. You can add ham, cooked sausage, green peppers, olives, onions, different cheeses or whatever suits your tastebuds. Place filling a few inches from the bottom of the circle. I put the pepperoni on the bottom, put the other fillings and then topped it with the cheese. Fold over the crust to make a crescent shaped calzone. Pinch edges closed. Make a few slits on the top. Spray a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan with non-stick spray. Place calzones on the cookie sheet. I then sprayed with non-stick spray or you can brush with olive oil and add some italian seasoning if you desire. Bake at 375F for approximately 25 minutes or until crust tops are golden brown.

This is so easy and so delicious. They cost a fortune to buy and are such a snap to make.

Enjoy!
Stacy

*note- when using ground beef or sausage, cook before using them as a filling.
