FANTASTIC RIBS
3 1/2 to 4 pounds pork spareribs
FOR THE SAUCE:
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup catsup
1/4 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup chopped onion
Juice of 1/2 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 clove garlic, minced
Cut ribs so they fit on rack of oven broiler pan. Add enough water to lower part of broiler pan to half fill it with water. Place ribs on rack over pan of water.
Bake ribs in a 300 degree F oven for 2 hours, turning once. Pour off water and clean lower part of broiler pan. Place ribs in broiler pan, meaty side up.
In a bowl, combine the vinegar, sugar, catsup, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion, lemon juice, mustard, and garlic. Pour enough of the sauce over ribs to cover.
Bake 20 minutes longer at 300 degrees F. Remove ribs from sauce and place on rack of broiler pan.
Place ribs under broiler for 5 minutes, basting several times with sauce.
